He has even toured with the Spice Girls!

Chris took members through some simple massage techniques to help relieve tension, anxiety and encourage toxin release.

The exercises included
- Thumb rubs – a soothing exercise using the soft part of the hands.
- Side to side swings whilst standing up. Dropping shoulders to release tension.
- Head movements to get energy into the neck.
- Shoulder pulls
- Face Time – a series of massages for the face. Care to be taken around the eyes especially if contact lens are worn.
- Rubbing hands – warm hands placed over the face
- Breathing exercises which could be done at any time to help with anxiety.
- Painful hips – movements around the hips and buttocks to help with pain.
Chris recommended that none of the exercises should be done for more than a minute in a 15 minute session.

Chris has videos on YouTube and Instagram to help with techniques. He encouraged members to pass these moves on to friends and family.

<![CDATA[Virtual Meetings in 2020]]>Thu, 31 Dec 2020 00:00:00 GMThttp://chesterfieldtownwi.co.uk/previous-meetings/virtual-meetings-in-2020April
We dipped our toes into the Zoom waters with 'Conference Call Bingo' and had a second catch up to get to grips with all things virtual!

Our usual Annual Meeting was put on hold until we could meet again (such optimism!), instead we came together for a Bring-Your-Own Quiz Night with members and visitors contributing a question each.

A few members joined together for a virtual afternoon tea to mark the 75th anniversary of VE day.

June saw us return to our planned 2020 programme welcoming Sue from Chesterfield Samaritans to talk about the organisation's work, a popular request from members in 2019.

It became apparent that we'd be working with virtual meetings indefinitely and the 2020 resolutions were announced.

Our very own Ann introduced us to all things Walking Netball and some of her Arc Angels teammates came along too. We all had a go at shooting practice - a bit of a DIY approach with various household items!

NFWI announced the membership subscription extension meaning renewals would be due in April 2021 instead of Jan/Feb 2021.

Kat Harbourne and Jenny Eells from BBC Radio Sheffield joined us to share the story of 'The Naked Podcast' and their adventures in making it.

NFWI sent us a letter about the proposed closure of Denman College and we decided that it wasn't practical for us to resume in person meetings within the exisiting guidelines (no refreshments, no raffle, limited speakers, limited numbers plus face coverings and additional cleaning requirements).

We welcomed back Gabbie Pattison for the third year running, this time with a different hat on! Irene and guide dog Demi joined Gabbie (in their support bubble) to share Irene's story and the work of the Guide Dog charity.

Maria kindly attending the DFWI Autumn Meeting on our behalf.

Comedian Rachel Burns joined us to tell the amusing story of how a joke she tweeted went viral!

Annual Meeting documents were sent out to members for approval.

The committee were on hand to answer any queries on the Annual Meeting files.

Members received an activity pack alongside our Zoom Christmas p
