AprilWe dipped our toes into the Zoom waters with 'Conference Call Bingo' and had a second catch up to get to grips with all things virtual! MayOur usual Annual Meeting was put on hold until we could meet again (such optimism!), instead we came together for a Bring-Your-Own Quiz Night with members and visitors contributing a question each. A few members joined together for a virtual afternoon tea to mark the 75th anniversary of VE day. JuneJune saw us return to our planned 2020 programme welcoming Sue from Chesterfield Samaritans to talk about the organisation's work, a popular request from members in 2019. It became apparent that we'd be working with virtual meetings indefinitely and the 2020 resolutions were announced. JulyOur very own Ann introduced us to all things Walking Netball and some of her Arc Angels teammates came along too. We all had a go at shooting practice - a bit of a DIY approach with various household items! NFWI announced the membership subscription extension meaning renewals would be due in April 2021 instead of Jan/Feb 2021. AugustKat Harbourne and Jenny Eells from BBC Radio Sheffield joined us to share the story of 'The Naked Podcast' and their adventures in making it. NFWI sent us a letter about the proposed closure of Denman College and we decided that it wasn't practical for us to resume in person meetings within the exisiting guidelines (no refreshments, no raffle, limited speakers, limited numbers plus face coverings and additional cleaning requirements). SeptemberWe welcomed back Gabbie Pattison for the third year running, this time with a different hat on! Irene and guide dog Demi joined Gabbie (in their support bubble) to share Irene's story and the work of the Guide Dog charity. Maria kindly attending the DFWI Autumn Meeting on our behalf. OctoberComedian Rachel Burns joined us to tell the amusing story of how a joke she tweeted went viral! Annual Meeting documents were sent out to members for approval. NovemberThe committee were on hand to answer any queries on the Annual Meeting files. DecemberMembers received an activity pack alongside our Zoom Christmas p
