Our Recent Meetings
3rd September - Kundadance
Katie from Yoga by Katie introduced us to Kundadance which combines yoga with uplifting, creative dance. It uses dynamic yoga sequences, breathing and vibrancy into your body and mind.
6th August - Legal Eagles
Back by popular demand! Local Magistrates Gabbie Pattison and (our very own!) Mandy Pugh returned to Chesterfield Town WI to conduct a mock trial. It was a real eye-opening evening and helped us better understand how the courts work and the role the magistrates play in the process.
2nd July - Medical Detection Dogs
Volunteer David Brocklehurst joined us to talk about the excellent work the charity does in communities across the country. Ambassador Dog Alice also popped in to say hello and show us a few tricks.
4th June - Extraordinary 'Ordinary Women'
Lyn Pardo from Friends of Spital Cemetery gave a fascinating talk focussed on some of the women with memorials in Spital Cemetery and the contributions they made to Chesterfield town's history.
7th May - Annual meeting
Our Annual Meeting provided an opportunity to review our time at CTWI in 2018 and elected the committee for 2019/20. We also discussed and voted on the proposed resolutions which were both subsequently passed at the NFWI Annual Meeting in June. The formalities were followed by a beetle drive.
2nd April - 5th Birthday Party!
Unfortunately local musician Adam Parrish was unable to joins us but we hope to welcome him back in the future. We celebrated 5 years of Chesterfield Town WI with a beautiful cake created by one of our talented members and enjoyed a raffle with a twist!
5th March - Wellbeing with Helen
Helen from Jetsam Yoga joined us to speak about the history of yoga and led us in some chair yoga. She also showed us how to sit down properly - hands free!
5th February - Glam and Gruesome!
Courtney of Courtney Paige Makeup demonstrated how to achieve a daytime into evening look and answered members' questions. She also showed us pictures of her Halloween inspired creations.
We are in the process of finalising our programme for the coming year and aim to publish this in November. The programme will debut alongside our 2019 entry to the Festival of Christmas Trees at the Crooked Spire (Church of St Mary and All Saints) which runs from Saturday 16th November - Saturday 1st December 2019 inclusive.
